"Those Who Never Die"

Man has longed for not only life extension, but immortality. Studies in genetics center upon the vain quest for immortality. Recently, there has been an up-tick in cryogenics with more and more people expressing a desire to have their physical remains indefinitely frozen, in the hope that they may be brought back to life in the far flung future. But science cannot conquer death, at best, it can only slow its inevitable arrival, (Hebrews 11:25). Methuselah lived to be 969 years old, and yet, "he died," (Genesis 5:27).

Still yet, man has always been fascinated with life, death, and an afterlife. In the oldest document, tucked inside the world's oldest book, Job asked the question, "If a man die, shall he live again?" (Job 14:14). Adam and Eve were the only ones in human history that had the opportunity to live physically forever, but by their disobedience they squandered that unique and marvelous blessing.

Can man live forever? Will he be given the opportunity to enjoy immortality? The answer is a resounding yes! But it will be spiritual immortality as opposed to physical. Jesus said, "And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die..." (John 11:26). But not only will eternal life in the spiritual realm be a reality, it will be lived and enjoyed in a beautiful perfect place called heaven, (Revelation 21). Why would anyone want to live forever here in the fever swamps of sin? Why would anyone want to remain where the Tempter lurks around every corner and the hard consequences of sin must be endured? Why would not everyone have a burning desire to go where, "...God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away" (Revelation 21:4)[?]

The great news is anyone can! Physical death is unavoidable. But-spiritual .. immortality, eternal life is possible! Sadly, on the other hand, so is eternal death and damnation, (Matthew 7:21-23; 25:46a). If you desire to be in the number who will never die, then simply believe in Christ and obey Him. Obedience is how we show our love for Him, (John 14:15; 15:14). Compliance to Christ is all it takes to have immortality! Who could argue it's not worth it?
