"I Am Resolved..."

The Lord has seen fit to bless us with a brand new year, have we seen fit in how to use it wisely? Let us all make the affirmation, "I am resolved." Resolved to:

Lead One Soul To Christ. What a grand result would come if each one of us decided that 2016 is going to be the year I will lead one soul to Christ! In a year's time our membership would double. In 2017, if the doubled membership would lead only one soul to Christ, then the membership roll would quadruple by 2018 from what it is now. There is absolutely no reason why this type of growth could not be achieved. We have a vast array of teaching materials and aids. All it takes is the will to do it. Will you select a single person to teach the gospel to this year? Or if you'd rather put them in contact with me, I will see to it they are taught. It matters not who does the teaching as long as it is done.

Look For The Wav Of Escape. Our world is teeming with temptation. The child of God must be vigilant in keeping sin at a distance. How many times did you succumb to temptation last year? Though "the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Mt.26:41), is simply a fact, not an excuse to sin. We are told "the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations..." (2Pet.2:9). Sadly, at times, we reject His deliverance. This is done when we fail to look for the way of escape God gives when we are tempted to sin. We've been assured, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it" (1Cor.10:13). Every time we sin, its our fault because no temptation is overpowering. Throughout this new year may we resolve to escape temptation.

Love God With All My Heart. This encompasses every aspect of the Christian life. Once its resolved to love God with all our heart, then everything else will slot naturally into place. Our worship will be pleasing. Our love for our brethren and fellowman will be what it ought to be. Our desire to be soul winners will be strong, and our faithfulness in the Lord's kingdom will be beyond dispute. Our lives will be pure and full of good works.

May 2016 be the year we can truthfully sing: "I am resolved no longer to linger, Charmed by the world's delight; Things that are higher, things that are nobler, These have allured my sight."
