All Lives Matter

Regardless of race, every human life matters. All human life matters because of its intrinsic worth evident in the fact that man has been made in the image and likeness of God, (Genesis 1:26). Every human life matters because each one has a God-given eternal soul, (Genesis 2:7). Paul preached on that craggy Athenian hilltop that God, "...hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth..." (Acts 17:26). God is not a respecter of persons and has commanded that the human race be not either, (Acts 10:34; James 2:1).

Christ underscores the immense value of each soul possessed human being by asking, "For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul" (Matthew 16:26)? In the Golden Text, John 3:16, Jesus declared, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." The word "world" is a reference to earth’s human population. This is obvious in that Jesus extends the hope of everlasting life to, "whosoever" believes/obeys Him. The writer of Hebrews declares that Jesus tasted death for, "every man"(Hebrews 2:9). Paul told Timothy that, "...God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved..." (1 Timothy 2:4). Peter’s pen inscribed, "The Lord is...not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). Many of other passages could be cited but these suffice to show how much God cares for and values the life of every human being.

The soul of each and every human being is eternal. It will live on after the tabernacle of the flesh has crumbled to dust. This means human life which animates the human body is to be treasured. Its the soul that is the real person, the actual life itself, not the drape of flesh. Nonetheless, the flesh is to be honored and respected because it is the temporary house of the eternal soul. So whether a soul is housed in a fair-skinned body or a dark skinned body, or some hue in between, all lives matter! The extreme age or youth of that physical human life matters not when it comes to its built in worth. Whether that human life has been around for a hundred years or at the moment of conception, all lives matter! The same holds true for every stage of human life.

All human lives matter, no one is worthless in God’s sight. Jesus loves all, from the unborn to the aged, race has nothing to do with it. As the children's song states: "Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world." That love never ends even into adulthood. May God help us to see the worth in the life and soul of every individual.
