"Guided By God's Eye"

The sweet singer of Israel was inspired by God to pen these wonderful words, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye" (Psalm 32:8). God doesn’t just see all with His eye, (Hebrews 4:13), He guides us with His all-seeing eye. This shows that God is not just an observer, but an intervener. He isn't just aware, He is concerned. Nor is He just concerned, rather He acts on His concern for His children. Our Father in Heaven wants us to know He sees, cares, and acts, on our behalf.

But what is involved in God's guidance of us with His eye? Probably much more than we can know in this life. Nonetheless, consider the following blessings we derive from God guiding us with His eye:

Direction - is a blessing that is evident in His promise to "guide." Solomon wrote, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). Direction and guidance God will provide if we are willing trust in Him and not in ourselves. By following God's direction we can never misstep or stray away. He has seen to it that we have an infallible guide that will inexorably lead us to Him, (Psalm 119:105; Jeremiah 6:16). If we miss Heaven it will be because we chose not to follow His direction.

Protection - How can one be unprotected when guided by God? "The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower...so shall I be saved from mine enemies" (Psalm 18:2-3). Security is a premium in this chaotic world. How sad and unfortunate that most fail to see the protection Almighty God provides.

Fellowship - The simple fact that God has promised to "guide thee" with His eye, reveals a closeness He has with us. But more than a closeness, a fellowship, even an intimacy. Since we are His children, He is our Father, thus we are members of His spiritual family, through His Son the Christ. Certainly this truth assures us of His constant loving guidance.

Love - This sums up all of the above blessings. The blessing of being guided by God's eye encompasses His direction, protection and fellowship. They are one and all wrapped in His Divine love. Therefore, caution should be exerted to "keep yourselves in the love of God" (Jude 21).

How Marvelous To Know We Are Guided By God's Eye!
