Divorce

Divorce is a major spiritual failing of our time. The instability of family life is a major contributor to most of our social problems. Husband and wives do not need to divorce/what they need is to work harder at preserving their marriage.

Divorce is damaging and harmful to everyone associated with it. God says, "I hate divorce" (Mal.2:16). God's plan is for husband and wife to stay married for life, (Mt.19:6).

Instead of divorce, husbands and wives should love each other sacrificially, (Eph.5:25-31). When husband and wife are married they are no longer two, but one. Something that is a union cannot be tom asunder without injury, pain and destruction as a consequence.

Divorce is hurtful because it represents broken vows, and because of the damage it does to the children produced by the marriage. Children see divorce as the destruction of their whole world.

To avoid divorce, people must build homes on God and His laws. God hates divorce. Each party in a marriage must flee from thoughts of divorce, oppose divorce, hate divorce, and do all they can to keep it from destroying their lives and the lives of others.
