The Days Speak

The year is past half over. Time is marching on. Because of this may we thoughtfully consider these words of Job, "I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom" (Job 32:7). Indeed, these are wise words.

The brevity and uncertainty of life should give us serious pause for reflection. Life is passing by at an alarming rate. The Bible is replete with scripture which remind us of this sobering fact, (cf. Jas.4:14; Job 7:6; Ps.90:9-10 etc.). Job says recognition of this truth "...should teach wisdom." Tragically, for most, the celerity of time does not. Yet God says it "should "

Are you receptive to this admonition? Has the swift mounting up of history in your life caused you to stop and think about the next life? Its evident from this passage that God intends for it to have an impact. Our brief existence here is to prepare us for eternity. As one gospel preacher worded it, "This is our one and only probationary period." Our life on earth is the only opportunity we have to be reconciled with God. It must not be wasted!

The human race has been greatly blessed. God has provided a way of reconciliation through Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son. While there is yet time, all would be wise to learn and submit to Jesus' terms. We have all sinned (Rom.3:23; lJn.l:10). We are all in need of redemption.

Have you been redeemed by Christ? If not, believe in Him as God's Son (Jn.8:24). Repent of your sins (Lk. 13:3,5). Confess your faith before witnesses (Mt.10:32). Then be baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of your sins (Acts 2:38). Live the remainder of your days in faithful service to Him (Rev.2:10).

The days speak volumes. Are you listening? Christ has spoken, will you comply?
