Walking Again!

I'm so grateful for all the prayers you and others offered up to make walking again a reality. After three months of not walking, I was finally permitted to do so last week. The first steps were a bit wobbly, but it wasn't long before I regained my balance and stride. Upon leaving the doctor’s office the first item of business was to return the knee walker that I had rented. To say, "I was glad to bid it farewell," would be an understatement!

The blessing of walking again caused me to think of the Christian walk. Paul had this to say about it, "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.... Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time" (Eph.5:15-16; Col.4:5). The term "circumspectly" means "carefully; diligently; accurately" (Vine's 17). In addition to this, Paul told the Colossians to, "walk in wisdom," which is self-explanatory.

How sad it is to know of some Christians who have decided to no longer take part in the Christian trek. Who for some reason or another, have chosen to walk again in the world, but not in the light, (Jn.11:9-10; 1Jn.1:7). They are walking so carelessly, and so unwisely on the "broad way,” they are certain to miss Heaven (Mt.7:13-14).

The last three months served to remind me what a great blessing the mere act of walking is. I had forgotten how much quicker and easier it is to get around and work, when you can simply put one foot in front of the other. May we never forget what a wonderful blessing it is to walk in the light with Christ. To do His Will and to go where He directs, is a magnificent blessing indeed! May we put our foot in the radiant prints of His steps, and gladly carry our cross each day.

If you have stopped walking in Christ, start walking again! If you feel your steps are faltering, regain a firm footing by asking for His help. He has promised to "never leave you nor forsake you"(Heb.13:5). Knowing this, let us never leave His path.
